Numerous searches of the MS KB and Google have not produced a solution for this issue so it may prove to be a tough question.We are receiving a randomly repeating print job from one XP machine/user.We run a SBS 2003 server, roaming profiles, wired/wireless hybrid tcp/ip network.Users runs an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop with XP Pro, and is mapped to two network laser printers via Ip address. (HP 4100 & HP 1200)The users documents print fine when she initially sends the print job. The print job will then randomly repeat for days/weeks. There does not seem to be a discernable pattern to the program or to the date, time of day, type of document, ect. I have checked the print spooler and no jobs exist or appear to be 'stuck'. The job may re-appear an hour or days later, again no noticable pattern.The 'stuck' job also seems to 'update' evey now and then to a new document, but behaves the same. I am unable to give a definate answer here.
I have interviewed the user and she is unable to recall any specifics and, of course, when we attempt to recreate the issue we cannot.What we know and she has confirmed so far is that;1. She is defaulted to the LJ12002. The mystery print job shows up on the LJ4100 anywhere from an hour to days later and continues to print at random intervals3. The mystery print job always completly prints, ie she gets everything that she printed in every instance of the print job, the original and the repeats.I will continue to monitor this as best we can to see if any patterns emerge. This is a part-time/out of the office (not a mobile user) user and it is very tough to keep her in one place long enough to directly monitor her use.

Do a quick check or ask her to perform these steps at her desk:1) Change the default printer from LJ1200 to LJ41002) Fire the job, check whether the mystery job comes up or it is vanished or the swapping has been done, meaning that now it occurs on LJ1200.3) If it works now, then again change your default to LJ1200 and perform your normal tasks. Your are okay now.4) If the mystery is seen again on LJ4100 only, then uninstall LJ4100 driver. Reinstall it using the drivers from HP site itself rather than the one she has.5) If the mystery is seen again but on different one now i.e.

LJ1200, then her system is vulnerable and she needs a full system scan for any open threat posed by such drivers.Note that there are various ways in which the hacker can attack your system, using drivers or better say it shimming the drivers seems to me as another way of doing such nasty thing. I have myself done some kind of logging in my printer project but that's for R& purposes only.
